Description:Falling Rod Viscometer is a commonly used instrument for determining certain rheological properties (apparent viscosity, false yield value, shortness, etc.) of non-Newtonian fluids (fluids whose viscosity varies with shear rate) such as printing inks. It is generally believed that the results of the Lare drop bar test can better describe some of the rheological properties of the ink in the printing process, applicable to the actual control of viscosity during the production of ink, and is often used as a technical requirement for acceptance by both the seller and the buyer. The viscometer is designed and manufactured with reference to the international standard ISO12644 and ASTM D 4040-10 standard "Printing Technology - Determination of Rheological Properties of Paste Inks and their Connecting Materials by Using a Falling Stick Viscometer", the principle of which is: to measure the falling time of a falling stick with different loads through the aperture of a coated test sample, and with the help of appropriate flow models (Carson, Bingham or exponential), the viscometer can be used to determine the rheological properties of some of the inks during the printing process. The principle is to measure the time required for different loaded weights to fall through the pores of the test sample, and with the aid of an appropriate flow model (Carson's model, Bingham's model, or the exponential law model), to obtain, by applying a linear regression method, the apparent viscosity of the sample (the value of the viscosity at a certain shear rate, which is sometimes called the Lare viscosity obtained by the Lare dropping bar test), the yield value, and the shortness ratio (often abbreviated as the shortness).
