BGD 872 ISO 15711 Cathodic Disbondment Test Chamber
Description:
The Cathodic Disbondment Test Chamber is used to evaluate the resistance of coatings (typically applied to protect metal substrates in ships and marine structures) to cathodic disbondment when exposed to seawater. It accurately assesses the adhesion failure between coatings and metal surfaces caused by cathodic protection, which often originates from defects in the coating system, such as accidental coating loss, application flaws, or excessive permeability.
Artificial holidays (defects) are created on coated specimens, which are then immersed in the test solution (artificial seawater) within the chamber. Two specimens are connected to a cathodic protection circuit (Method A) or sacrificial anode (Method B), while two additional specimens serve as controls without cathodic protection or sacrificial anode connection. After testing, the specimens are examined for blistering and underfilm penetration around the artificial holidays. Blistering and disbondment grades are evaluated according to relevant standards, and the coating's performance under cathodic protection conditions is determined by comparing protected and unprotected specimens.
Key Features:
*Supports both Method A (Cathodic Protection) and Method B (Sacrificial Anode).
*Real-time voltage difference monitoring with numerical values and voltage-time curves displayed on the touchscreen. The system automatically alerts when coating failure occurs.
*Real-time display of solution temperature and temperature-time curves.
*Test data exportable via USB in Excel format.
*Alarm indicator: Red flashing light on the right side of the chamber signals system faults.
