Painted products in the packaging, transportation and use of the process inevitably be subjected to hard scratches, scratch-resistant paint film will often leave scratches, and even be scratched, which affects the decorative effect and make the paint film lose the protective effect. Therefore, people need a test method and evaluation standard that can be recognized by both supply and demand sides to test the scratch-resistant performance of paint to determine the level of scratches and types of defects.
Before 2015, there was only one relevant national standard GB/T 9279-2007 "Color Paint and Varnish Scratch Test" used to determine the scratch resistance of paint film, which is not very conducive to evaluating the scratch resistance of different coatings in different use environments. Later on, this scratch standard was revised and divided into two types: one is constant load, i.e., during the scratch test, the load of the scratching needle on the test plate remains unchanged, and the test result is expressed by the maximum load of the scratching needle that has not scratched the coating; the other is variable load, i.e., during the scratch test, the load of the scratching needle on the test plate is gradually increased from 0, and the test result is calculated by measuring the distance between the final load point and the point of the scratching needle. The result of the test is expressed by measuring the distance between the final load point and the point where the scratch has just appeared to calculate the critical load of the test plate at the point where the scratch has just appeared.
