BGD 309 ISO 1520 Cupping Tester Manual Digital Display Coating Cupping Test Machine
Description: Cupping Tester (also known as indentation test) evaluates the resistance of paint to cracking or separation from metal after the film is formed and gradually deformed under standard conditions. The minimum depth of indentation by the punch when the paint film is damaged is the cupping index (also called Erichsen number), expressed in mm.
BGD 309 Cupping Tester is a newest testing instrument designed by BGD with the combination of similar advanced products from abroad. Its structure is a desktop device with a steel body and a 20mm diameter steel ball testing head, also known as a punch. With a certain force, press on the unpainted side of the test plate; with a certain speed (recommended: 0.2mm/s) rotate the handwheel to make the steel ball on the top, and through a magnifying glass to observe the surface of the test plate. When the test plate deformation and observed the first crack appeared immediately stop rotating the handwheel, and from the LCD display read out the value of the depth of the cup convex.
This machine is designed according to GB/T 9753, DIN ISO 1520 and BS 3900, mostly adapted to the coating of metal plates in the home appliance industry (to determine the stretchability and adhesion of the paint film on the metal surface), and also applicable to the coating on some non-metallic substrates.
